Process

The CREST Simulator mimics the live CREST environment, including the secure networks provided by Swift, Syntegra and the LSE.

The main difference is the Simulator service is provided over the internet rather than through a private network.

Safe Financials provide the SFL SimGateway which is a windows application that manages the transfer of files between local and remote locations. Alternatively you may use your own software solution for file transfer although the majority of clients utilise the SFL SimGateway.

Single Gateway SetUp

The following illustrates a single gateway, single connection environment:

1. Your back office is connected to the SFL SimGateway via a mapped drive.

2. The SFL SimGateway FTPs the files over the internet through your firewall.

3. The files are then allowed access through the SFL Secure Firewall and placed onto the SFL Secure File Transfer Portal.

4. From here the files are input directly into the Simulator where they are then processed and returned to your back office via the same FTP process.

Multiple Gateway Setup

In some circumstances the file transfer process between the test system and the SFL CREST Simulator can only be achieved through the use of multiple gateways. The SFL SimGateway will manage the transfer of files for both gateways.

Multiple Connections Setup

The CREST Simulator and the SimGateway can support multiple customer environments with the same file transfer application being used to control the entire process. For example you can have Unit Test, Regression Test and UAT Environments running through the same SFL SimGateway.
